It’s fantastic to be surrounded by the excitement of new student and faculty orientation. I love meeting you on campus and in town, learning about what you have been doing during the summer months, and sharing your joy for living, learning, and working here!

President Anne F. Harris, along with members of the College’s senior leadership team, invite students, staff, and faculty to delve into a selection of contemporary books from Cover to Cover.

Now in its fourth year, the Colloquium is a set of convening conversations offering an opportunity to talk together and learn about timely and significant topics at Grinnell and in the field of higher education that influence our mission and experiences.

As we look forward to the 2026-27 academic year, this newsletter is intended to briefly preview institutional initiatives in the upcoming year. We will continue to work on these initiatives with the Executive Council of the faculty, the Staff Council, and/or the Student Government Association through our shared governance processes and look forward to our work together.

The 146th Grinnell College Alumni Reunion took place on campus from May 28 to May 31.

Grinnell College will welcome Antionette Priscilla Carroll as the 2026 Social Innovator in Residence, bringing a nationally recognized leader in equity-centered design to campus for a fall 2026 residency focused on trust, community agency, and sustainable systems change.

It is with deep sadness that I share news of the passing of Sam Harris ’58, a member of our alumni family whose life and legacy have left a lasting mark on Grinnell and in the world.
